An ECKist [member of Eckankar] has a cat named Humphrey. One evening the woman was lying on her bed reading Child in the Wilderness, a book I wrote about my experiences with the Light and Sound of God. As the woman got closer to the chapter on my experience with God-Realization on the bridge, Humphrey became very excited.
He started running back and forth on the bed. Since it was a water bed, this caused quite a commotion. Then Humphrey grew quiet and just sat on the bed, looking up at the ceiling.
The ECKist looked up at the ceiling too, but she couldn’t see anything. She wondered what had caused Humphrey’s excitement. It was because the cat could feel what I was trying to put into the book. I wrote it as well as I could, thinking maybe someday somebody would understand. Maybe the cat did.
Cats have an ability to see into the other planes, into the Astral Plane. They can see the spiritual travelers who come and go from the Astral to the Causal, Mental, and higher.

I loved all your cat stories. Thank you!! Love is a wunderful thing. I love it!!
After my cat, Bramble, translated, I adopted Mia within a month’s time. I’d often rolled a small ball to Bramble which he enjoyed batting about and chasing. As Mia acclimated to her new home, Bramble seemed to be around for a time. He’d roll the little ball to Mia, and she enjoyed this game. After a bit he left, when he felt she was settled in. He had liked a special little table by a window to look out upon our street. Mia never seemed to sit there. Again, perhaps he came about more than I realized. It was a comfort to me, too.
My cat Buddy had had a terrifying experience where he had been locked in somewhere in our neighborhood.
For several days and nights I walked the area with my dog and my other cat calling his name with no response.
Finally, when I had just about given up hope, one night I heard this wee meow. There was Buddy .
He was weak, dehydrated both front legs wounded, skinned to the bone.
I nursed him back to health. Whatever happened to him I will perhaps never know, but his personality changed from friendly and trusting to nervous and fearful of everyone except myself.
The other two pets were long gone when one day I lay on my bed. I believe I was having one of those minor initiations. I woke up to hear Buddy going through some dream trauma. He was cat talking to someone and also struggling with it. Then he awoke and looked at me almost with new eyes as if he also had had an initiation.
He has been a changed and loving cat ever since then, although very careful of which humans to trust.
Buddy is now 12 years old. Purring away as I write this.
Thank you Mahanta for bringing him home.
Yes, my cat can often see different spiritual travellers, too. She looks very interested into the “space” and follows them with her eyes around my room. Especially, if I’m reading my Satsang or doing my spiritual exercises.
My cat is always seeing something. Also looks into space. I have seen things & I feel things all the time. My bed vibrates a lot.
At the 2019 ECK Regional Seminar in Accra, a roommate and I had a lovely conversation about cats and how they often step out of the house when an individual is about to translate (pass on) and return after. I found that remarkable and in contemplation know why love is important in life. For one, love divine can help Soul overcome the fear of death, cat or human. Animals are indeed Souls.
HU, find more on http://www.HearHU.org, is the carrier of love, that when song brings more divine love into your heart.
Just over a year ago our 20 year old cat Mittens translated. I would often see him visit me, sometimes with Peddar Zaskq. On a number of his visits my other cats would see him as well. A few times Smokey would look straight at Mittens and I knew that he could see him as did I. These experiences seem to happen often. Sometimes Mittens would communicate with me on the inner and he is quite the funny lad indeed.
